Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmental guidelines.
2. Beginning and ending all classes as scheduled and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
3. Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning, communicating with students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.&nbsp;
4. Evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
5. Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in a timely manner.&nbsp;
6. Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.&nbsp;
7. Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications:&nbsp;
&nbsp;A Master’s degree in a qualifying field from a regionally accredited institution or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of related qualifying fields. Three years teaching experience is preferred.&nbsp; Experience with alternative delivery instructional modes recommended – hybrid, online, interactive, etc.

2024 Part-Time Temporary - Tutor (Pool)&nbsp;
The Teaching &amp; Learning Center staff is comprised of professional and student tutors.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and computers helpful. Must enjoy working individually and in small groups with students.
Hours worked may vary, but will not exceed 29 hours per week.
Tier 1 - Student Tutors or Tutors with less than a Bachelor's degree:
Criteria: Must have completed courses in the tutoring field with an A, and Overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
Tier 2 - Professional Tutors:
Criteria: Tutors with a Bachelor's degree or above in the tutoring field or closely related discipline. Preferable to have teaching or tutoring experience.


      Part-Time Temporary - Tutor (Pool) 2025
    

Lab Monitors will:
Assist IT staff with managing and re-imaging pc’s, general desktop support (setups, moves), staff the helpdesk as needed, and assist users with 1st level technology issues. Responsibilities include monitoring and cleanup of pc labs, and assisting other students, staff and faculty with basic technology questions. Students will periodically check inventory and ensure computer labs are in good working order and clean.
Hours may vary, but will not exceed 29 hours per week.
Pay: $12.25 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
1. Must be an enrolled student at Columbia State Community College
2. Above average computer knowledge
3. GPA 2.5 or above


      Part-Time Temporary - Lab Monitor (Pool)
    

Title:&nbsp;Temporary – Supplemental Instruction Leaders, All Campuses (Pool) POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Learning Center Coordinator, Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders are trained in planning and facilitating collaborative and group learning in regularly scheduled study sessions for Nashville State students who are enrolled in targeted courses. SI sessions are scheduled group meetings in which SI Leaders help students in the SI session interact with the material in a more engaging way.&nbsp;&nbsp; ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Attends all Supplemental Instruction sessions and course lectures, takes notes and models appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors.&nbsp;&nbsp;Creates lesson plans for Supplemental Instruction sessions and prepares all materials Submits lesson plans and materials prior to scheduled SI sessions for approval and feedback.&nbsp;&nbsp;Submits attendance records, time sheets, and other paperwork to SI Coordinator timely.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Attends staff meetings and training sessions to learn new Supplemental Instruction strategies.&nbsp;&nbsp;Holds additional Supplemental Instruction sessions up to four times during the semester outside of the regularly scheduled sessions.&nbsp; Meets with assigned faculty members for 1.5 hours maximum per month, as deemed appropriate by Supplemental Instruction Leader and faculty member. Maintains professional communication with the course instructor, including holding periodic meetings to debrief SI sessions and address personal or student concerns.&nbsp;&nbsp;Acts as peer support for students and refers students to campus support services as needed, including immediately reporting critical issues to the coordinator.&nbsp;Becomes familiar with the technology/resources in the classrooms.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Completes program assessment surveys and administers surveys in Supplemental Instruction sessions or course lectures as needed.&nbsp; Checks email and SI Program messaging system regularly.&nbsp; REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Must be a current Nashville State student and completed a minimum of 15 credit hours of college-level course work, not including learning support, with a 2.5 Cumulative GPA in college-level courses and earned at least a B in MATH 1000, MATH 1010, or MATH 1530.&nbsp; Must have access to a reliable internet connection. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate course content. Strong organization and time management skills. Ability to report to a campus location for the work assignment. POSITION SUMMARY To provide academic support for students enrolled in a variety of courses, such as Accounting, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Computer applications and programs (Java, HTML, C++), Pre-calculus, Calculus I, II, and III, Statistics, Physics, Algebra, English and Economics. Technology tutors are also sought to assist students with digital course tools and learning systems, including but not limited to D2L, Outlook 365, and Zoom.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitates the learning process for students seeking additional support outside of the classroom. Works in both one-on-one and small-group settings. Maintains knowledge in all subjects tutored. Records all session notes using the TutorTrac system.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS For applicants with a degree, an associate’s degree or higher in the discipline or related field or demonstrated expertise in subject matter content.
For student applicants, a B or higher in the course subject and recommendations from two college-level instructors, current or former.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous tutoring experience
