Required Education

Experience and expertise in public health related fields. Teaching experience and strong student evaluations. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and electronic media with a wide variety of audiences. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of individuals in academic and professional positions.

Job Summary

The College of Public Health seeks a public health educator with a strong background and commitment to community health improvement through policy and advocacy. This is a tenure-track position. The faculty member will be expected to pursue activities required for promotion and tenure, including teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

The faculty member will negotiate a yearly distribution of effort with the Chair of the Department of Health Management and Policy in consultation with the Dean of the College of Public Health to ensure that adequate time and resources are available to meet both the requirements for promotion and the goals of the Department and the College.

Responsibilities will include:

Teaching
* Teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses related to policy, advocacy, and grant writing;
* Mentoring MPH and PhD students with teaching and TA/RA positions;
* Develop an appropriate teaching portfolio of assessment connected to accreditation and post-tenure review practices.

SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY
* Conducting data collection and evaluation projects with state public health associations and national task forces, and associations, e.g., technical reports, code of ethics standards, credentialing, and accreditation;
* Tracking, analysis, and reporting work with public health policy at regional, state and national levels;
* Editorial work with public health journals;
* Securing grants and contracts (preferably as PI or Co-PI) resulting in evidence of impact which may include publications, technical reports, policy briefs, training materials, and media.

SERVICE
* Serving on state and national public health professional boards, and subsections; (ie, KPHA, APHA,
SOPHE, NESG, etc)
* Establishing community and state partnerships for advocacy, policy for workforce development, research endeavors, and classroom experiences;
* Leadership on University and College-related committees and endeavors that promote CPH
departments, faculty, and students.
